These eye-to-eye hitch cords are awesome. If you have only used loops to make friction hitches, changing to this style of cord offers big advantages. 
 
These are light, very strong 11kn end-to-end (in the 6.4mm version), and they are very grippy. The 6.4mm will hold body weight on most 6mm ropes with a 5 over 1 Swabish hitch. They work fine on large ropes also, depending on what length. This is one of the most versatile rope tools that I have found.
